Welcome to this place of healing, growth and learning. A place to heal from childhood and/or adolescent sexual trauma and addiction if applicable. A place to grow with no judgement, just plenty of compassion. A place to learn about how the body and brain protect the survivor, and how to let go when that protection is no longer needed. A place to learn self-compassion and non-judgement in life and with parenting. A place to stop the cycle.
Lara Donachie is a single Mother of twins who are both incredible kids in their own unique ways. She has been a Registered Nurse for 20+ years and a Certified Educator for 7+ years. She is pursuing a certification as a Trauma Recovery Coach. She contributed to the book "Parenting with PTSD: the impact of childhood abuse on parenting" and helps moderate a Facebook group for survivors of childhood sexual trauma who are parenting with PTSD. She herself is a survivor of childhood and adult sexual trauma, and has been in sobriety from Alcohol for 12+ years.
"Nothing changes if nothing changes" a slogan imprinted on Lara's heart that has left a desire to educate and advocate for survivors just like her. Much like the semi-colon tattoo above, Lara has placed a semi-colon where a period could have left her at her bottom. Now is her time to pay it forward.
An educator at heart, Lara wants to use her background and experience to guide and empower others to find the strength they have as survivors and to rid themselves of the shame and negative stories that hold them back.
